Bienvenu(e)s!!!
French 201 is for students who can communicate with some ease using sentence-length discourse in asking and answering simple questions. Students can expect to begin linking sentences together in the present, past, and future time frames. You will also begin to read relatively lengthy but uncomplicated texts and begin to write paragraph-length texts using high-frequency vocabulary and structures in order to carry out the routine tasks of daily life. You will also learn about some salient aspects of culture in the French-speaking world. Grammar topics include a review of basic structures, as well as the study of past tenses and imperatives, and an introduction to the subjunctive, conditional, and complex sentences. Authentic literary readings are a significant component of the course. Language laboratory work is required (see below for details)
